You would have yourself witnessed the feeling of well being and being relaxed, which automatically comes when you lie on sand/ground or when you walk barefoot on earth or grass. This good feeling is because of the earth’s electric energy which passes through us when our feet are in contact with it. This energy has got immense health benefits for the human body.
Our feet contain a rich, intricate network of nerves and acupuncture points and are especially adept at picking up free electrons from the earth’s surface. It’s called barefoot or caveman medicine, and walking barefoot – aka earthing or grounding – may be the easiest, simplest and cheapest way of shifting your body back to an optimal state of homeostasis and health.
The earth is full of energies and getting in touch with these energies nourishes the body as well as the mind and soul. In addition, walking is a gentle exercise that people from all age groups can do.
I feel connected and grounded to the Earth. Even before reading all the studies about grounding, I felt the energy. I feel it every day. I think it grounds you not only in a physical way but also mentally. The energy gives you a sense of security and stability. For me, being connected to the Earth only seems natural.
Overall I have more energy than before. I never use to be a morning person, I am still not but I do feel an unusual energy in the morning long before having any coffee. I call it unusual because I do not remember feeling energized in the morning without caffeine. Even with a 1-year-old and 2-year-old to keep up with I still feel like I have more energy these days.
My feet are not cold anymore. I use to have the worst circulation in my feet and hands. My limbs would be ice cold and there was no way to warm them up unless I put them on a heater. Now my feet are the last part to get cold and I never have to wear socks around the house. It is a drastic change from last year. So far I have been able to be solely barefoot in 35ish degree weather without feeling cold.
In the beginning your feet may fatigue as you go barefoot. But that’s not a bad thing; it’s like lifting weights at the gym. Your muscles get tired and then grow back stronger. As your feet begin to strengthen and adapt, you’ll notice many of the daily aches and pains of your feet and lower legs going away. Soon standing on your feet will be a more enjoyable activity.
Provides Vitamin D
When you are outside walking barefoot on grass, the sun’s rays also nourish the body with vitamin D, also known as the sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D helps keep your bones healthy and prevent osteoarthritis and other bone- and joint-related diseases.
Moreover, low levels of vitamin D are associated with an increased risk of hypertension, cardiovascular disease, type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, and certain cancers.
It has been found out by “Earthing” research that the average life of humans is increased if they are in more contact with earth. Thus, you can increase your life by not wearing shoes for as long as possible.
Protection against EMF’s
By being in contact with earth, you will be safer as earthing/ grounding provides protection against the Environmental Magnetic Fields (EMF). These EMF’s are bad for health.
Do’s & Don’ts:
Do walk on grass that is slightly moist, as the water helps conduct the electrons; dry grass won’t be as effective
Don’t walk on grass or soil that is littered with dirt, dog/bird droppings etc. Because the soles of our feet are very effective at absorbing the earth’s energy, they can also absorb toxins — use commons sense before you ditch your shoes. Pristine forest or beach soil is ideal
Do ground, especially after flying, as our bodies bioelectrical rhythms are thrown out of balance in flight and grounding restores that electrical equilibrium
Do wash your feet with soap and water, after grounding, to get rid of soil detritus that you may have picked up
Don’t go barefoot if you have any open cuts/sores on your soles, as that can be an entry point for parasites/fungi
